Working With Kids
I founded and then led a weekly elementary-school Writing Club for 6 years.
We worked on poetry, songs, fiction, articles, plays, and so much more.
The kids learned about writing, but the most valuable skills I hoped to impart
were teamwork, flexibility, confidence, and keeping an open mind.

I also created and led a kids' writing contest through Hallmark Cards.
Three winners received writing workshops for their class, led by Hallmark writers!
Through Hallmark, I was also asked to lead writing workshops
for Kaleidoscope children's art center.

During quarantine, I developed an online Writing Club for kids,
and posted regular "meetings" so kids could engage in creative activities
from home.
You Will Be Found
My elementary-school Writing Club came up with phrases and quotes to inspire their fellow students, then made a music video to share on the school TV system.
Everyday Heroes
Club members interviewed the heroes in their own lives, then created a school display featuring words of wisdom on what it takes to be an everyday hero.

Fiction
Our club wrote several books over the years.
Some were compilations of short stories, and others were chapter books that required the kids to work together to keep the story consistent from chapter to chapter. We even created a choose-your-own adventure!

Mapping out our choose-your-own-adventure book.
Personality Quiz
Our club created a life-size personality quiz in the school hallway! We brainstormed and developed the quiz, then used LOTS of duct tape to map it out for all students to enjoy.

Hallmark Writing Contest
I created and led a kids' writing contest for Hallmark Cards.
I then developed and helped lead writing workshops for the classes of our 3 winners!

Online Writing Club
I posted regular club "meetings" during quarantine so kids could still be creative from home. Lessons included writing silly stories, creating word searches, writing thank-you notes, and developing fictional characters.
Kaleidoscope Writing Workshop
I have developed and led several community writing workshops, including this one for Kaleidoscope, a local children's art studio.
